Reasonable adjustments during recruitment

Recruitment process

Request a reasonable adjustment

We are a Disability Confident Employer and are committed to making our recruitment process inclusive and accessible for everyone.

If you have a disability, health condition or are neurodivergent, you can ask for reasonable adjustments at any stage of the recruitment process. Requests will be handled confidentially and we will work with you to provide the support you need.

Examples of reasonable adjustments include:

  • extra time for interviews or assessments
  • receiving interview questions or information in advance
  • receiving information in an alternative format
  • a quieter interview environment
  • additional breaks during an interview
  • changes to the interview format, location or timing
  • access to a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter
  • support with computer-based assessments

If you're unsure what the interview or assessment will involve, please contact us. We can explain the format and help you identify any support you may need.

If you need any adjustments, please email us as early as possible before your interview or assessment and tell us:

  • what adjustment you need
  • which part of the recruitment process the adjustment relates to
  • how the adjustment will support you

The more information you can provide, the easier it will be for us to support you.

If we're unable to provide your requested adjustment

We will always try to accommodate reasonable adjustment requests where possible. If we're unable to provide the adjustment you've requested, we'll let you know and explain why. We'll also work with you to discuss any alternative support that may be available.

During your interview

Use any strategies that help you feel comfortable and perform at your best. This might include making notes, using fidget tools, asking for a question to be repeated or rephrased, or taking extra time to think about your response where appropriate.

Before your interview, our recruitment team will contact you to ask whether there is anything we can do to support you during the process. The use of AI during interviews and assessments is not permitted unless it has been agreed in advance as a reasonable adjustment. If you plan to use an AI tool, for example to take notes, please tell us before your interview. We can then discuss your needs and agree the best way to support you.

After your interview

We're always looking for ways to improve our recruitment process. If you have feedback about accessibility or the adjustments provided, we'd welcome your comments.

You can also request feedback on your interview performance in either a written or verbal format.
