Amanda Pritchard

We are delighted to confirm that Chief Executive Amanda Pritchard has accepted the role of Chief Operating Officer for NHS England/Improvement.

Trust Chairman Sir Hugh Taylor said: “This is a great honour for Amanda, and for the Trust, and also good news for the NHS.

“Not only does her appointment recognise the significant contribution that Amanda and Guy’s and St Thomas’ make to the wider NHS agenda, but it will ensure that there is someone in this important new national role who understands the practical issues facing the health service at this time.

“Through her work leading Guy’s and St Thomas’, Amanda has direct experience of managing services that range from innovative community teams in our local boroughs to specialist tertiary services and clinical networks that serve a wide catchment.

“Amanda has played an active leadership role in the wider health system here in south east London, so understands the need for new ways of working that move beyond traditional organisational boundaries.

“While we will miss her talent, energy and vision, Amanda will be a great asset to the national team as they tackle critical strategic and operational issues.”

Amanda will take up the post full time on 31 July.

We can confirm that Ian Abbs, the Trust’s Chief Medical Officer, has accepted the role of interim Chief Executive, ensuring continuity within the Trust as we focus on implementing our ambitious strategic plans.

Ian will be supported by the senior leadership team, and will retain his Board role as Chief Medical Officer.
