Our CARE awards (Courtesy, Attitude, Respect and Enthusiasm) are given each month to staff who have ‘gone the extra mile’ to provide exceptional care for patients. The latest winners are:

Jeong Su Lee, an occupational therapist on the Lane Fox Unit, a high dependency unit dealing with patients who rely on ventilators to breathe. She has excelled in meeting the challenges of these patients by helping to ensure their discharge from hospital is smooth and preparing them for an improved quality of life outside of hospital. She is universally complimented by patients their families and all members of the team.

Staff from Albert Ward were praised for their outstanding patient care and support for relatives. Patients comments include: “We were impressed by the staff who were excellent at every level. Mum has Alzheimer's and has been treated with dignity and respect. They have worked tirelessly to support our family at what has been a very difficult and stressful time.”

Patients and visitors can nominate staff and volunteers for a CARE award. Nominations can be made either for an outstanding individual, or for a team who has made a special contribution. The awards are open to all volunteers and staff whether they work behind the scenes, on the front line or in support functions or non-clinical roles. Nominations should recognise staff who have demonstrated the Trust’s values:

• put patients first
• take pride in what we do
• respect others
• strive to be the best
• act with integrity

You can nominate a team or individual by completing the online form.
