Diane Summers, Non Executive Director

Local resident Diane Summers has been reappointed for a second term as our Non-Executive Director.

The reappointment was recommended by the Trust’s Nominations Committee and agreed by the Council of Governors at its meeting on 25 April. Her appointment will run for a further 4 years with effect from 17 June.

Trust Chairman, Sir Hugh Taylor, said: “I am delighted Diane has been reappointed. We have benefited hugely from her professional expertise and her local knowledge have been invaluable; and she has taken an active role on the Board and its committees, not least as Chair of the Community Services Committee.”

Diane is a former Managing Editor of the Financial Times, where she worked for 19 years as a writer, editor and executive. Her experience before joining the Financial Times spanned the voluntary and private sectors and included senior positions at the consumer organisation Which? and homelessness charity Shelter.

Since 2006, Diane has been a freelance writer, editor and consultant. She is a trustee of The Guinness Partnership, a major social housing provider, and is an independent advisor to the BBC Trust.

Commenting on her reappointment, Diane said: “I’m extremely proud to continue to serve as a Non-Executive Director at Guy’s and St Thomas’. I look forward to still being actively involved with the community services committee, and developing opportunities for local patient care that the integration presents.”
