Dr Ranj and Radio 1 DJ Charlie Tee spent a day in each other's roles for the BBC Bitesize Careers celeb job swap challenge.

Charlie joined Dr Ranj at Evelina London Children's Hospital, where he trained and currently does locum work, to find out if the transferrable skills she uses at her day job could help in a career in healthcare.

She had a crash course in a day as a doctor, using training dummies to insert a cannula, practice CPR, and give sutures (stitches).

Dr Ranj said: "I grew up with a fascination with science and working out what made things tick, as well as a desire to help people. So becoming a doctor seemed like the ideal profession for me!"

Having done much of my training at Guy's and St Thomas', and particularly Evelina London Children's Hospital (and I now work there as a consultant), I can't think of a better place to be!

Cheryl Samuels, People Director at Evelina London, said: "We were delighted to host Charlie at Evelina London Children's Hospital for the BBC Bitesize Careers celeb job swap challenge. At Evelina London, we strive to provide continual support and training opportunities for all of our colleagues."

We're glad we could be involved in this opportunity to show the value of transferrable skills and the wide range of career opportunities available to all young people, although it's never too late to start a career in healthcare.

Dr Ranj spent the day in the Radio 1 DJ booth, making use of the skills he uses as a doctor, including multi-tasking, people skills, keeping calm under pressure and doing hands-on tasks.

Find out more and watch a video of the challenge on the BBC Bitesize website.
