Guy's and St Thomas' holds open day for budding apprentices

Thursday 18 September 2014

Guy’s and St Thomas’ is recruiting apprentices this month for its new Gateway Academy.

Young people interested in this opportunity can attend an information day on Tuesday 23 September at the Education Centre, 75-79 York Road, London SE1 7NJ.

The Gateway Academy is a new initiative that provides young people with training in workplace skills and offers real employment experience in the NHS.

Young people who successfully complete an initial induction will progress on to a one-year Business and Administration Apprenticeship, which the National Skills Academy for Health is providing in conjunction with Guy’s and St Thomas’.

In their work placements, apprentices will learn how the NHS works and how they can make a difference within it. While on the course they will gain an Edexcel Level 2 BTEC Certificate in Working in the Health Sector and then a Level 2 apprenticeship, giving them the skills, experience and confidence to gain employment.

The Trust is particularly keen to work with young people from Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark but will consider candidates from other boroughs.

The information and assessment day is on Tuesday 23 September from 9.30am-12.30pm, with interviews taking place on Thursday 25 September.

To book a place at the information day, register at or contact Sinead Daly at Hawk Training on 020 8891 0992
