Our clinicians work hard providing quality of care

The Trust has been shortlisted for the quality of care category in the 2015 CHKS Top Hospitals programme award.

The awards celebrate excellence in healthcare quality and improvement and are given to hospitals in the UK for high quality patient care.

For the quality of care award, hospitals are assessed on a number of factors including the length of time patients stay in hospital and the rate of emergency re-admissions. Guy’s and St Thomas’ is one of just five trusts shortlisted for the award this year.

CHKS Ltd, part of Capita plc, provides healthcare intelligence and quality improvement services to the NHS and the independent healthcare sector. Jason Harries, managing director of CHKS, says: "Every hospital is accountable to its patients, their families, carers and the local community to provide a safe environment. Our quality of care award highlights those trusts that clearly share a commitment to driving improvement and a culture of excellence throughout their organisations and it is a credit to the staff at Guy’s and St Thomas’ that it has been shortlisted for this award.”

Karen Proctor, Director of Nursing Adult Services at Guy’s and St Thomas’, says: “We are really proud to be shortlisted and honoured by this recognition of the quality of care we provide. It is an endorsement of the hard work of all staff and a chance to reflect on what we are doing right, as well as consider how we can continue to improve in the future.”

The CHKS Top Hospitals programme awards will be held in London on 19 May and will be attended by over 200 guests including healthcare sector leaders from the Department of Health and the Royal College of Medicine. Award nominees and winners are chosen on the basis of an analysis of publicly available data on every NHS acute trust.
