NHS England Deputy Director of Children and Young People's Nursing Kate Pye visited Royal Brompton Hospital on 31 August.

She visited the hospital’s Paediatric Critical Care Unit, Rose Ward, sleep lab and day case area and got an insight into the specialist care babies, children and young people with heart and lung conditions receive at the hospital. She also held a forum with nursing staff, updating on national issues affecting children’s nursing.

Jennifer Webb, matron for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Royal Brompton Hospital said: “I’d like to thank Kate for taking the time to visit Royal Brompton Hospital and to see and hear for herself the dedication of our children’s nurses working at the hospital. It was great to see nurses at varying stages of their career journey proudly talking about children’s nursing and why they find working here so rewarding.”

NHS England Deputy Director of Children and Young People’s Nursing Kate Pye said: “I was delighted to meet some of the nursing team working at Royal Brompton Hospital delivering care to children and young people with heart and lung conditions. It was an absolute joy to meet so many of your staff and see the excellent levels of care being delivered.”

Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust’s heart, lung and intensive care services for children are provided at Royal Brompton Hospital and at Evelina London Children’s Hospital and there are also outpatient services at Harefield Hospital.
