Monday 5 August 2013
Patients who use Guy’s and St Thomas’ community services in Lambeth and Southwark have praised the quality of their care - 82% of people who took part in a survey of more than 1,000 patients rated their care as ‘excellent’ or ‘good’.
The survey also found that:
- 88% of patients would recommend our community services to friends and family
- 98% said they were treated with dignity and respect
- 96% had confidence and trust in the staff caring for them.
Our community health services provide a range of support including health visitors who work with families and children under five, specialist nursing services for people with multiple sclerosis for example and help to people who have had a stroke.
Chief Nurse Eileen Sills says: “We are delighted by this positive feedback from patients about the care that they receive from our community teams.
“We strive to give all patients the best possible care wherever they are - in our hospitals, at our clinics in community health centres, or at home.
“We are very proud of our community teams and their commitment to improving the way we provide care to local people closer to where they live.”
Most aspects of the care provided by our community staff were rated positively but there are areas for improvement, such as providing more information about how to give feedback on our services, which will be addressed.
