A pop up garden

Our pop up garden, created with decoratively painted cable reels

Guy’s and St Thomas’ was honoured to welcome guests from Lilian Baylis last week – a local social enterprise which supports local young people and teaches them skills in sports and arts.

They joined staff who gave up their breaks to create some incredible artwork to display around the hospital. One of the creations was a ‘pop up’ garden – complete with ‘upcycled’ cable reels which were decorate to create tables and chairs. A huge mosaic, also created on the day, will adorn the top of the table. Flower bed benches add to the colourful creation.

The new garden – called the Olympic garden – faces the Houses of Parliament and will leave a legacy which can be enjoyed by staff, patients and visitors for many years.

Find out more about Lilian Baylis and how you can volunteer with the centre.
