An athletic team of patients from the Evelina Children’s Hospital have returned with 56 medals following a hugely successful British Transplant Games.

39 children and young people aged 4-17 who have had kidney transplants competed in a range of sports over 4 days last week including track and field athletics, swimming, table-tennis and badminton.

The team, called the Evelina VIPs, won 13 gold, 20 silver and 23 bronze medals. They also won silver in the 4x100m track relay and 4x25m freestyle swim relay.

On top of that, they won the Best Kidney Kids trophy for the fifth year in a row, which means they were in the top 3 teams overall.
