Patient-led teams of assessors have given Guy’s and St Thomas’ a high rating for cleanliness, food and treating patients with dignity and respect.

Their verdict is included in national data published by the Health & Social Care Information Centre.

Patient-Led Assessments of the Care Environment (PLACE) teams made up of patients, the public, staff and independent healthcare providers assessed the Trust.

They scored our services and environment as follows:

  • cleanliness 99.38% (national average 97.25%)
  • food 90.86% (national average 88.79%)
  • privacy, dignity and wellbeing 92.80% (national average 87.73%)
  • condition, appearance and maintenance 95.23% (national average 91.97%).

Peter Bennett, Head of Hotel Services which includes cleaning and catering, says: “We are thrilled to have scored so highly in these crucial areas. I would like to thank all staff who work hard to provide a comfortable and clean environment for patients.

“There is always room for improvement, and having patients involved in the assessments gives us important insights into the areas where we can do better.”
