William Gull celebrates its heroes

Staff on William Gull Ward at St Thomas’ are celebrating their own heroes during the London 2012 Games.

Each morning throughout the London 2012 Games, staff on William Gull Ward are nominating their colleagues to receive an award in one of 17 categories – from the Mother Theresa award for the most caring and compassionate, to the Miss Sunshine award for always having a smile. Staff are presented with a certificate on a fantastic podium, which has been constructed by the team.

The awards will take a break for the next two weeks until the Paralympic Games.

Sister, Karen Jackson said: “We’re involving the patients too. We have given letters out to patients when they receive their welcome packs asking if anyone has made a difference to their stay, and they can place their vote in a confidential box. At the end of the Paralympic Games, we will announce the winner of this ‘patient’s award’.”
