Work experience programme up for award

Guy’s and St Thomas’ is shortlisted in the Work Experience Placement Provider of the Year category of this year’s Mayor’s Fund for London Awards.

Winners will be announced on Thursday 12 March at City Hall.

These prestigious awards celebrate the achievements of employers that embrace the importance of youth employment in the capital.

They recognise organisations that show an understanding and commitment to improving of employment opportunities for young Londoners.

From January to September 2014 alone Guy’s and St Thomas’ provided work experience opportunities for more than 450 young people through innovative programmes including placements for autistic youngsters.

Ann Macintyre, Director of Workforce at Guy’s and St Thomas’, says: “To be shortlisted for a Mayor’s Fund for London Award shows the huge effort that staff across the Trust make to provide work experience placements.

“That effort, combined with working with a number of partners in the charity sector, is making a real difference to the life chances and career prospects of many Londoners.”
