After graduating from University College London Medical School in 1991, Cormac Breen trained in nephrology and general internal medicine at King's College and Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals.
He is an active investigator in clinical trials and led the Modernisation Initiative workstream on dialysis choices. This developed approaches to increase patient self-care and home haemodialysis and promoted patient involvement in haemodialysis.
He chairs the group overlooking the department's ongoing programme of dialysis development.
Cormac leads the development of computer IT support to patient care and information, including the development of paper-free clinical practice and external availability of test results to patients through the Patient View website.
