Haseeb Rahman

Consultant interventional cardiologist

Biography

Dr Haseeb Rahman is a consultant interventional cardiologist at St Thomas’ Hospital and senior clinical lecturer at King’s College London.

He specialises in coronary artery disease and complex coronary procedures. He has particular expertise in coronary physiology and angina with non-obstructive coronary arteries (ANOCA), where people experience chest pain in the absence of visible blockages in the major coronary arteries. He helped establish the specialist ANOCA and coronary microvascular dysfunction service at St Thomas’ Hospital.

Haseeb trained at the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford before completing his specialist cardiology training in London. He was also awarded a PhD from King’s College London.

His clinical and research work focuses on improving how we diagnose and treat coronary artery disease, myocardial ischaemia and problems affecting the heart’s small blood vessels.

Research interests

Haseeb's research focuses on coronary microvascular dysfunction and understanding why the heart muscle may not get enough blood and oxygen. He uses specialist coronary and exercise tests alongside advanced heart imaging to better understand these conditions and develop more targeted treatments.

He is particularly interested in how the heart and its small blood vessels respond to exercise and changes in the way the body uses energy, and how this may link angina with heart failure. He also researches whether non-invasive imaging and new treatments could help diagnose and treat these conditions more precisely.
