Biography
Ioannis Loukopoulos received his undergraduate medical education and general surgery training at the University of Athens, Greece. He has a PhD in hepatocyte transplantation.
He worked five years as a consultant at the general surgery and kidney transplant unit of Evangelismos hospital in Athens.
In 2012 he moved to Guy’s Hospital to train in laparoscopic donor nephrectomy and in 2013 he was appointed as a consultant.
He is the lead for robotic donor live nephrectomy and vascular access. He has developed a training model for robotic kidney transplant and is the principal investigator for a multicentre study on biosynthetic grafts for vascular access.
