Miguel Reis Ferreira
Consultant clinical oncologist
Miguel Reis Ferreira completed his medical degree and specialist training in Lisbon, Portugal.
In 2011 he completed the doctoral programme for physicians sponsored by the Gulbenkian Foundation.
He then completed his research at the Institute of Cancer Research where he studied the role of the intestinal microbiota in the development of radiotherapy side-effects.
He was awarded a PhD in 2018.
He specialises in head and neck cancers and leads a programme of research focused on better understanding the role of microbes in improving cancer treatment results.
He has presented his work nationally and internationally and published in high-impact journals.
