Consultant in intensive care and cardiology
Biography
Waqas is a consultant and a cardiogenic shock lead at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Trust working cross-site as a consultant at Guy's & St Thomas' and Harefield Hospitals.
He is the only consultant in the UK on the GMC specialist register for cardiology, intensive care medicine and general internal medicine. He has a particular interest in cardiogenic shock, heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support.
He has held several elected national roles on the Board of the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine, Board of Centre of Perioperative Care, Council of Academy of Medical Royal Colleges and Council of Intensive Care Society.
