Dr Amit Pawa, BSc (Hons) MBBS (Hons) FRCA EDRA, started working as a consultant here in 2010. He is an integral part of the regional anaesthesia community.
Amit completed several house officer jobs in London and briefly worked in the emergency medicine department at King's College London (KCL) before undertaking 7 years of anaesthetic training on the South East Thames rotation.
He has completed fellowships in regional anaesthesia at Guy's and St Thomas' and liver transplant at KCL. He has also completed the ESRA diploma in regional anaesthesia.
His first consultant post in February 2009 was at the Medway Maritime Hospital, where he specialised in orthopaedic and regional anaesthesia and surgical high dependancy care.
His main areas of clinical practice are:
- upper limb orthopaedic trauma
- plastic hand trauma
- breast cancer surgey
- reconstructive breast surgery
Education and training
Qualified from the United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy's and St Thomas', 2000.
- Regional anaesthesia education and training - teaches on several national courses in addtion to Lsora
- Ultrasound guided regional anaesthesia - most recently, ultrasound guided thoracic paravertebral blocks
- Major surgery
