As local hospitals and the provider of community services in Lambeth and Southwark, we are keen to tell you more about what we do and how you can get involved in our work. There is much to celebrate and be proud of – from our services and exceptional staff to the amazing research and innovation which is allowing us to deliver new and better treatments.

Issue 21 – the GiST – February 2017

In this edition of the GiST read about housekeeper Michael Ampadu who won a Trust Award after being nominated by colleagues from the dental team. You can find out what happened when we spent 24 hours behind the scenes with the site nurse practitioners, and learn about a pioneering new lung surgery procedure that gave Joy Cooper-Barclay a lifeline.

Issue 20 – the GiST – November 2016

In this edition you can find out about the new Cancer Centre at Guy's, and how it was designed with the help of cancer survivor Diana Crawshaw and a team of patients with a mission to change cancer care. We also hear how two local initiatives are widening access to employment.

Issue 19 – the GiST – August 2016

In this edition you can find out about Syeda Mannan who is looking forward to a bright future after a life-changing two weeks. We also get some tips about how older people can reduce their risk of falls and hear from Dr Terry Gibson about what he learned during his time volunteering at Connaught Hospital in Sierra Leone.

Issue 18 – the GiST – May 2016

In this edition find out more about the baby girl who was named Evelina after the hospital that saved her life. Read about the work of specialist midwife Geraldine Joyce who helps to improve the lives of vulnerable pregnant women, and learn more about the first successful blood transfusion, which took place at Guy's Hospital in 1825.

Issue 17 - the GiST - January 2016

In this edition we talk to Jamie Williams, who thought he would lose his hand after an accident with a saw last summer. Thanks to the hard work of his surgeon and our hand therapy team, he's now got almost all his strength and movement back.

Issue 16 – the GiST – November 2015

In this edition we celebrate the 10th birthday of Evelina London Children's Hospital. We talk to Maya Jotwani who suffered a stroke when she was just 16 years old and we find out how changes in our Emergency Department (A&E) at St Thomas' Hospital are already benefitting patients.

Issue 15 – the GiST – August 2015

In this edition we talk to bricklayer Daniel Jerman about the lifeline he was given by the headache service at St Thomas', and find out why space satellite engineer Michael Loweth is taking part in the groundbreaking 100,000 Genomes Project.

Issue 14 – the GiST – May 2015

In this edition we talk to Radio 1 DJ Claira Hermet about why she is no longer living in fear of breast cancer. We hear how our stop smoking service helped marathon runner Zoe Robson to kick the habit, and in advance of Volunteers' Week in June, we speak to two people who volunteer at the Trust for very different reasons.

Issue 13 – the GiST – January 2015

In the winter issue find out about a patient whose life was saved in A&E then transformed by the Pathway homelessness team, why older patients can now often be treated in their own homes and meet the team who treat patients with severe skin diseases.

Issue 12 – the GiST – October 2014

The autumn edition of the GiST magazine showcases uplifting and courageous stories from patients including kidney transplant recipient Cash Ryan, who is encouraging people to sign up to the organ donor register, and cancer survivors who are being helped to live life to the full through a physical activity programme and workshops to help them feel good about their changed appearance after treatment.
