Like all hospitals, every year we are required to undertake a Patient-Led Assessment of the Care Environment known as PLACE.

Teams of staff and patients carry out assessments for standards of cleanliness, quality of food, and how well patients are treated with dignity and respect. They visit Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospital sites, Evelina London Children's Hospital and inpatient sites in the community (Pulross Intermediate Care Centre, Minnie Kidd House and the Amputee Rehabilitation Unit at Lambeth Community Care Centre).

Our patient assessors need to have experience of using Trust services and can be a:

  • patient, relative, visitor, advocate or carer
  • member of local Healthwatch, a local resident, or a voluntary sector representative.

Assessments will take place during a 10-week period starting in September. Patient assessors will be invited to one full day of assessments at a single site.
