What is Centralised Administrative Recruitment (CAR)?
CAR is a streamlined way of recruiting to permanent or fixed term bands 2-4 administrative and clerical vacancies within the Trust. It works similarly to an internal agency by having a 'pool' of candidates which Trust managers can access when they have a vacancy, rather than having to advertise. We work closely with managers and applicants to make sure that we can match them as closely as possible.
Why apply to CAR?
The majority of our administrative vacancies are recruited to via CAR and not from our website or NHS Jobs. If you'd like to be able to be put forward for these roles, you will need to join CAR, subject to passing our assessment process.
- If you are interested in joining CAR, please email your CV as a Word document and a short introductory paragraph to CAR@gstt.nhs.uk. We will give you an initial call to find out what you have been doing and what you are interested in. If Guy's and St Thomas' is the place for you, we will invite you to an IT and situational judgement assessment at our office in Great Dover Street.
- If you are successful after this stage, you will then be invited for an informal chat to discuss details such as the type of work, location and hours you are looking for. We will also complete an ID check for you.
- As we have vacancies, we will send them to candidates and ask them to submit a short statement matching themselves to the role. We will select those who most closely match the hiring manager's requirements and submit their CVs for consideration. The manager will then decide which candidates to invite for interview.
