If we offer you a job

Recruitment process

If the interviewers have decided to offer you the job, you'll receive a phone call from the recruiting manager with a provisional, informal offer. If you accept it you'll then receive a formal provisional offer by email. Forms will be attached to the email for you to complete and return.

Pre-employment checks

Before you can start working, you'll need to complete our pre-employment checks.

We need to do an identity check on all new employees. The documents we need for the identity check are different from the documents needed for Disclose and Barring Service (DBS) and asylum and immigration checks.

We have a legal obligation to make sure all our staff have the right to work in the UK. Original documents must be produced in person. You'll be invited to book a meeting online with one of the recruitment team in your provisional offer letter. Please make sure that the passport or visa you produce is a current document, and is not expired. A valid visa in an expired passport, while acceptable as a right to remain document, is no longer acceptable as right to work document. For more information on immigration and visa checks, please visit the UK Border Agency website.

If a qualification or professional registration was stated as essential on the person specification we'll take copies of your certificates or check the relevant professional registration website.

Depending on your career history we'll ask for one or more references. You must make sure that your first referee is your current employer. Guidance about providing references will be on the application form but as a general rule we’ll ask for references to cover 3 years of your job history, training or education.

We need to ask for a DBS check if you'll be working with vulnerable groups. You must produce original documents in person.

We need all candidates to have occupational health clearance through our occupational health provider.
