Research and development: A focus on Heart, Lung and Critical Care Clinical Group

We invite you to our upcoming R&D seminar.
The seminar will be in 2 parts:
- learning about R&D in the Trust
- a showcase of some research projects, focussing on the Heart Lung and Critical Care Clinical Group
The learning session includes an introduction to 2 new research infrastructures within the Trust. These focus on how we are:
- supporting the expansion of commercial research across south London, coordinated through Guy's and St Thomas'
- developing healthcare technologies for cardiovascular and respiratory medicine
The showcase will include 5 short talks from researchers in the Heart Lung and Critical Care Clinical Group.

- Current and ongoing research within Harefield Hospital advanced heart failure unit, Owais Dar, consultant cardiologist in heart failure, transplant and mechanical circulatory support
- Research in Pulmonary Hypertension, John Wort, consultant in pulmonary hypertension
- Research in advanced support therapies for heart and lung failure, Brijesh Patel, clinical senior lecturer Imperial College and honorary consultant in adult intensive care
- Acute kidney failure - why research is urgently needed, Marlies Ostermann, consultant in critical care and nephrology
- The future of Atrial Fibrillation Ablation, the EPIC AF Trial, Aoife Tipping, senior cardiovascular research nurse
