Patients who have hip and knee replacement surgery will be able to leave hospital sooner thanks to a new scheme launched by the Orthopaedic Department at Guy's Hospital.

The hip and knee replacement outreach and support service will provide patients with expert care and the support of nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists at home.

Matron Louise Cooper said: "After hip and knee replacement surgery most patients are well enough to go home within two or three days. The new outreach service means that our patients are able to continue to receive the best possible care in the comfort of their own home."
