106 local students join the organ donor register

As students start the new academic year, our organ donation team visited three local Freshers’ Fairs at King’s College London and London South Bank University.

The team spoke to around 550 students. 106 signed up to the organ donor register and another 100 took information away with them.

“Many students are already signed up to be an organ donor thanks to the DVLA initiative which asks people if they’d like to join the register when they apply for their license,” says Cara Murdoch, specialist nurse for organ donation.

“The Fairs gave the students a chance to find out more detail about organ and tissue donation, what is possible, the difference it makes – and of course sign up if they weren’t already.”
