The Orthopaedic Outreach team
Congratulations to our latest CARE award winners. Our CARE awards (Courtesy, Attitude, Respect and Enthusiasm) are given each month to staff who have ‘gone the extra mile’ to provide exceptional care for patients. The latest winners are:
Richard Glaves, a clinical nurse specialist in Haemostasis and Thrombosis, was nominated because of his compassion, care and dedication in supporting patients with conditions that challenge their health and lifestyle. He was invited to a patient's wedding who described him as a VIP.
The Orthopaedic Outreach team was awarded because of their work improving the service provided for patients with hip and knee replacements. This means that patients leave hospital from the second day after surgery, providing it is clinically safe to do so, and receive dedicated care from an outreach team of nurses and therapists in the comfort of their own home.
Joan Mullings a receptionist in the Haemophilia Centre was nominated by her colleagues for always going above and beyond to support patients and colleagues. They describe her as having compassion, understanding, patience and a big heart.
The Skin Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist team was recognised for providing an invaluable service to patients. They care for patients with diverse, complex cancers and provide end of life care. Staff are endlessly flexible and provide holistic care for patients by phone, or face-to-face.
You can nominate a team or individual by completing the CARE award nomination form (PDF 191Kb), which also contains more information about the awards.
