Dino Williams - HSJ BME pioneer

Dino Williams, Staffside Chair and branch secretary for Unison has been named on the list of 50 Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Pioneers by the Health Service Journal.

The list celebrates individuals from BME backgrounds who, through exceptional leadership abilities or their day to day example, are inspiring others and helping to shape and deliver excellent care for all.

Ann Macintyre, Director of Workforce says: “We are extremely proud of the fact that Dino Williams has been recognised for his work as a BME Pioneer. He is a great role model and his leadership skills and experience have strengthened the relationship we have with our trade union partners.”

Dino’s achievements include personally championing the development of a joint learning agreement to support life-long learning for all staff, especially lower banded staff and the development of a debt and budgeting support strategy for staff at all levels.

The judges said: “He has been phenomenal; he’s championed the learning agenda and driven forward the diversity agenda. Staff have very high regard for him and he is certainly someone to watch.”

Nominations from across health and social care and from clinical and non-clinical backgrounds were submitted to a panel of judges who decided on the final list which is available on the HSJ website.
