Stonewall, the charity which campaigns for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) equality, has named Guy’s and St Thomas’ as the most inclusive healthcare organisation in London. The Trust has moved up by 15 places in the Healthcare Equality Index since 2014 and is now ranked fifth in England.

The Healthcare Equality Index helps organisations to track their progress on equality for lesbian, gay and bisexual patients and communities. Organisations are judged on their patient policy and practice, engagement and communication with gay people, improving the health of gay patients, and staff training on gay health needs.

Eric Pirozzoli, Associate Director of Human Resources and co-Chair of the LGBT Staff Forum at Guy’s and St Thomas’, says: “We are really proud of our result and award. It is amazing to get the recognition of the hard work being done across the Trust to support LGBT staff and the wider community.”

Guy’s and St Thomas’ is also a member of Stonewall’s Diversity Champion Programme, designed to develop and share best practice for creating an inclusive environment for gay employees.
