Catarina Francisco volunteers at Evelina London Children’s Hospital
More than 600 people give up their time to volunteer at Guy’s and St Thomas’, in roles ranging from greeting patients and offering directions, to providing a library service to wards and departments.
Catarina Francisco volunteers at Evelina London Children’s Hospital, arranging drawing and toys in the outpatients department.
She says: “You get a lot more back than you give. I love it there. I get a lot of smiles, and lots of hugs. That’s the most rewarding thing.”
To celebrate Volunteers’ Week we are holding events in Central Hall at St Thomas’ Hospital on Wednesday 3 June from 10am-3pm, and in Atrium 2 at Guy’s Hospital on Friday 5 June from 10am-3pm. The events are open to everyone.
Come along to meet current volunteers and hear about their experiences. Talk to the voluntary services team about volunteering opportunities at the Trust.
Amanda Bryan, Voluntary Services Lead, says: “We’re really grateful to all our volunteers who support staff at the Trust and help to improve the experiences of our patients.”
