Celebrate pharmacy at Guy's and St Thomas' – 24-25 September

Monday 14 September 2015

Staff working in our pharmacy

The pharmacy team at Guy’s and St Thomas’ work with patients across the Trust to make sure that medicines are prescribed and administered safely and effectively.

Andrew Hunter, 65, visits Guy’s Hospital every two weeks to receive the drug that manages his blood condition. The medicine, which is prepared by the pharmacy team, prevents him from needing to have dialysis treatments several times a week.

He says: “I know I’m very fortunate because I don’t suffer any side effects which means I can lead a normal life. I consider myself lucky to have a very supportive family and to be in the hands of the professional pharmacists and kidney teams at Guy’s”.

To celebrate the last 25 years of pharmacy at Guy’s and St Thomas’, we are holding interactive drop-in events where you can find out more about medicines and the wide range of pharmacy services.

  The events will run on:

  • Thursday 24 September, 10am-3pm , Atrium 2, Guy’s Hospital
  • Friday 25 September, 10am-3.30pm , in the marquee in the gardens of St Thomas’ Hospital.

Our team of expert pharmacists will be on hand to answer any questions you have as well as providing a medicines information service.

You can try some ‘behind-the-scenes’ pharmacy activities like manufacturing a medicine, find out about past and present research, talk about careers in pharmacy, and help to raise money for Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity.
