Sexual health art show kicks off Pride celebrations

Burrell Street Sexual Health Clinic

The unveiling of new art at Burrell Street Sexual Health Centre will kick off Guy’s and St Thomas’ Pride celebrations. The display opens to the public from Saturday 25 June.

The striking posters, designed by students at London College of Communication, University of the Arts London, carry important sexual health messages.

The posters promote SXT, a social enterprise set up by Dr Anatole Menon-Johansson, clinical lead for sexual health at Guy’s and St Thomas’, to help people find the right sexual health service for them online. SXT now provides more tailored information about where to get sexual health services across the UK, as well as a new emergency contraception calculator.

Dr Menon-Johansson says: “These beautiful images will certainly provoke a reaction but they carry a very serious message about how important it is to look after your sexual health.”

Jo Hodges, Creative Practice Director, Communications and Media, London College of Communication, says: “Our students were delighted to be able to work on such a high profile and very important campaign with SXT. It is brilliant to see art and communication come together like this.”

The posters will be on display for all to view at Burrell Street until the end of July.

Staff from Guy’s and St Thomas’ will march at Pride on Saturday 25 June celebrating the Trust as an LGBT friendly place to work and be cared for. The LGBT forum is meeting on Saturday 25 June at 10am at St Thomas’.  If you wish to join the Trust at Pride please email the LGBT forum for more information.
