Four years at the top for staff engagement

Guy’s and St Thomas’ has the highest staff engagement score

Guy’s and St Thomas’ has the highest staff engagement score for ‘combined acute and community trusts’ for the fourth consecutive year, according to the national NHS Staff Survey.

The Trust achieved the top score of 7.4 (on a scale of 0 - 10) for staff engagement, compared to a national average of 7.0, and also came top for safety culture and quality of appraisals.

We also scored better than the national average on six out of 10 themes, and matched the average on two themes.

More than 6,560 staff from across the Trust completed the Staff Survey in 2018.

A total of 87% of our staff who responded are happy with the standard of care we provide, compared to the national average of 70%, and 77% of staff would recommend the Trust as a place to work, compared to the national average of 61%.

Whilst the majority of our results were above average, the Trust scored below national average on two themes.

Thank you to all our staff for their continued dedication and commitment to making the Trust a great place to work. It is fantastic that in many areas we have exceeded the best scores nationally.”

Julie Screaton, Chief People Officer, added: “Alongside patients, staff are at the heart of everything we do, and this is reflected in the ‘people’ element of our new strategy, ‘Together we care’. We’ll continue to work with staff across the Trust, investing in their development and creating positive working conditions for them to flourish.”
