Redeveloping the Guy's and St Thomas' website

We are redeveloping the Guy's and St Thomas' website for the first time in nearly 10 years.

Our aim is to deliver a new 'patient-first' website – using data and research to provide information which patients want, which is easy to find and easy to understand.

Patients, the public and local stakeholders will have lots of opportunities to contribute to the project through surveys, digital focus groups and online testing.

Where we are

The first major milestone was to find out who our users are, what they are coming to our site to achieve, what they like about the site and what problems they faced (discovery phase).

Overall, impressions of the website were positive. Users had high levels of confidence in the Trust and a majority would recommend the current site to friends and family. However, there were criticisms. The design of the site was seen as outdated and in need of a refresh. Navigation was difficult and search did not perform well.

In the next phase we will use the findings from discovery to help develop the structure, navigation and design of the new site (alpha phase). We expect this to take three months to complete.

The project started in August. However, in January 2021 we reluctantly decided to put the project on hold due to the increased pressure the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic was placing on the Trust.

We hope to start work again in April 2021 and expect the project to take a further 9-10 months to complete.

Website survey

Thank you to everyone who completed our website survey. We had 744 responses from a wide range of stakeholders, including patients, staff, Trust members, GPs and carers.

The results include lots of feedback which will be extremely useful in helping us establish what our website is currently doing well, as well as where critical improvements can be made.
