The parents of Lana Olivia Attwood, who sadly passed away in May 2012, are climbing the highest mountain in England in aid of the Evelina Children’s Hospital.

Lana Olivia Attwood, was diagnosed with a heart condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy at six-months-old. Her mother Bridgette said: “Thanks to the exceptional staff at the Evelina Children’s Hospital, we were able to experience a further ten months with Lana, seven of which were spent waiting for a heart transplant.

“The last ten months of Lana's life were filled with very up-and-down moments – and this was made bearable by the most dedicated team of consultants, doctors, nurses and other hospital staff that we were privileged to meet throughout Lana's care.

“As it is coming up to a year since Lana's passing, we wanted to do something where we could try and get as close to her as possible. There is a team of nine of us climbing Scafell Pike to go and say "hello" to her in heaven.

“The trek will be in aid of the paediatric heart fund at the Evelina. We would like to provide sensory equipment for Savannah Ward for the babies and children to play with. This will make their time at the hospital as enjoyable and educational as it can be.”

Lana’s family also hope to highlight how important organ donation is. “We may still have our baby girl if a suitable heart had become available in time,” added Bridgette.

The team will set off on 25 May and hope to be back at sea level on 26 May.
