Staff survey results show a proud and learning culture

Tuesday 14 April 2026

The results of the 2025 NHS Staff Survey show sustained improvement across all NHS People Promise areas, highlighting our strong learning culture and the pride colleagues feel in working at Guy’s and St Thomas’.

The annual survey is an important opportunity for everyone who works at the Trust to share their experience of working here. This feedback helps us ensure Guy’s and St Thomas’ remains a great place to work and a great place to receive care.

What we're proud of

  • We achieved the highest score nationally for the ‘We are always learning’ theme – driven by strong results for personal appraisals.
  • We are the second most recommended place to work among acute and acute/community trusts in England.
  • 93% of colleagues said they were proud to work for the Trust.
  • 99% said they were aware of the Trust values – caring, ambitious, inclusive.
  • Our scores are above the national average across all 7 NHS People Promise areas, as well as for ‘staff engagement’, and ‘morale’.
  • ‘Diversity and equality’ and ‘negative experiences’ both scored above the national average for the first time in 5 years, reflecting progress in areas where we are working hard to make improvements.

Where we need to do better

While the results reflect positive progress and a strong sense of pride across the organisation, we know there are areas we need to do better.

These include fairer access to career progression for everyone, tackling poor behaviour, and improving the experience for global majority colleagues and for those with disabilities or long-term health conditions. We’re committed to making meaningful, lasting improvements in these areas.

Taking action

We will use the feedback to update our Trust-wide and local action plans and are continuing to listen to listen and support our people through ‘You said it. We did it’ webinars, listening events, pulse surveys, anti-racism in action workshops and people manager training programmes.

11,873 colleagues completed the 2025 NHS Staff Survey, representing almost half our workforce. This response was above the national average for acute, and acute and community trusts, and the second highest level of participation for the Trust ever.
