Biography

Anurag Garg is a consultant ophthalmologist at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, specialising in cataract surgery, acute and general ophthalmology, and glaucoma. He was appointed as a substantive NHS consultant in 2025.

Anurag is the clinical lead for the Rapid Access Eye Clinic at St Thomas' Hospital, which provides urgent ophthalmology care in a high-acuity tertiary setting. He is an experienced cataract surgeon working within the Trust's cataract service.

He holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD Res) from University College London and has published more than 20 peer‑reviewed papers, including in The Lancet and Ophthalmology. He speaks regularly at national and international meetings.

Anurag is the college tutor for ophthalmology and oversees the training of residents and post‑CCT fellows within the department.
