Research and clinical trials
We have a strong research background and are a major teaching and training unit for students all over the world.
A pioneering device which helps fluid to drain from the eye is being used in a trial at St Thomas' Hospital in the hope that it will save patients' sight. Surgeons are using a special blade to treat patients with glaucoma.
Research is vital to improving the care that you receive when you're unwell. You can help improve healthcare by taking part in research studies at our Trust. During your appointment, ask your healthcare professional about research. They'll be happy to tell you about research studies you could be eligible to join.
