Lucy Neave

Consultant haematologist

Biography

Lucy Neave has been a consultant haematologist at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust since 2023. She is based in the Centre for Haemostasis and Thrombosis.

She specialises in diagnosing and treating:

  • inherited and acquired bleeding disorders
  • venous thromboembolism
  • other thrombotic conditions

Lucy has a particular interest in women's health issues relating to bleeding disorders and anticoagulation. She runs specialist clinics for women with bleeding disorders, focusing on:

  • pregnancy management
  • preconception counselling
  • treatment of menorrhagi

Education and training

  • MA MSci Natural Sciences, University of Cambridge
  • MBBS medicine (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery), St George's, University of London
  • Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) (UK))
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists
  • CCT in haematology (north central London training programme)

 

Research interests

As a clinical research fellow at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Lucy undertook an MD(Res) focused on thrombotic microangiopathies in pregnancy.

She is actively involved in a number of clinical trials at St Thomas’, including

  • novel therapies in bleeding disorders
  • management of obstetric haemorrhage
