    • PhD (Imperial College London) 2004

  • Research interests

    • David's PhD examined ways the human immune system recognises transplants as foreign and explored ways this can be regulated. Of particular interest was the role of a population of white blood cells, called regulatory T cells, which can suppress specific immune responses. David was also involved with work to expand these cells, with the aim of using them to prevent rejection in human transplantation.
    • In collaboration with Professor Tony Dorling, David examined the way clotting factors could influence the behaviour of immune cells and stem cells.
