Biography

Ashish Chandra is a consultant histopathologist and cytopathologist and was clinical lead of the department from 2009 to 2012. 

He leads a growing team of cytopathologists in providing fine needle aspiration (FNA) cytology services including rapid onsite evaluation (ROSE) of palpable lumps, as well as radiologically guided and endoscopic (EUS/EBUS) specimens. He is vice president of the International Academy of Cytology (IAC), deputy editor of Cytopathology and on the executive committee of the British Association for Cytopathology (BAC) and Specialist Advisory Committee of the RCPath. He has co-authored a number of reporting guidelines for cytopathology.

As a urological histopathologist, his interests include kidney, prostate and urothelial cancers and he was the lead pathologist on the NICE guidelines for bladder cancer. He is an examiner for the RCPath and also helps organising courses in cytopathology and uropathology. He regularly presents talks and workshops in the UK and at international conferences.

He is available for specialist opinions on both uropathology and cytopathology. He supports visiting doctors for clinical attachments and observerships in these fields through the Trust visiting professionals programme (VPP).
