Services for patients

Patients have access to bedside television, radio and phone services in most of our wards.

There is also a pay per view film service to keep you entertained.

  • Television and radio services

The bedside television service is available 24 hours a day.

It is a service you need to pay for, with various packages available, running from two hours of television, to 30 days.

Terrestrial TV channels are free 8am-12am.

It's also free for children under 16 years and there are half price reductions for long-stay patients.

Your ward may also have a day room where you can watch TV or sit with your visitors.

Radio services are free – all you have to do is register.

These services are maintained and supported by an on-site team and customer care centre.

  • On demand services

A range of 'on demand' services are available for purchase at the bedside. There are over 80 movies to choose from, including the latest box office releases.

A wide choice of over 50 audio book titles to suit all ages and interests are also available.

On demand services are usually included with all big bundles. Content is refreshed on a regular basis. Please check at the bedside for all current titles available.

  • Phone calls

Phone calls to UK landlines (01, 02, and 03) are free at all times.

Calls to mobiles from the bedside are available at a charge of 25p per minute. Calls to international numbers will be higher and may vary.

Family and friends can call into the bedside at a minimum charge of 50p per minute, depending on your network provider.

Mobile phones should not be used in some areas as they might interfere with some medical equipment or disturb other patients.

In the places where you can use them, please keep them on silent mode and be considerate to other patients.
