How to submit a referral
e-RS referrals
All NHS GP referrals must be submitted using the NHS e-Referral Service (e-RS). Referrals sent by email or post from NHS GPs will not be processed.
Non-e-RS referrals
In line with NHS England's Digital First approach, we encourage all external non-e-RS referrals to be submitted digitally.
Digital referrals help reduce delays, improve traceability, minimise the risk of lost or incomplete information, and support safer patient care.

We will continue to accept paper referrals where necessary. However, referrers will be advised to use digital referral methods in future.
Making a referral
We accept referrals from GPs and other hospital doctors for NHS funded IVF. NHS funding may be available for patients who meet the specific criteria of their local integrated care boards (ICBs). Each ICB has set criteria and will fund different levels of treatment.
It usually takes up to 6 weeks for the funding application process.
All people referred by a GP or hospital will be assessed for NHS funding once an initial registration questionnaire has been returned. We'll apply for funding on their behalf and will complete the documents needed as part of the application.
The number of cycles funded is different for each ICB. Usually 1 to 3 cycle treatments will be funded on the NHS.
