Referrals

Making a referral

We accept:

  • self-referrals using our online form
  • referrals from GPs

If you've self-referred but changed your mind and want to cancel, please use our online cancellation form.

How to submit a referral

e-RS referrals

All NHS GP referrals must be submitted using the NHS e-Referral Service (e-RS). Referrals sent by email or post from NHS GPs will not be processed.

Non-e-RS referrals

In line with NHS England's Digital First approach, we encourage all external non-e-RS referrals to be submitted digitally.

Digital referrals help reduce delays, improve traceability, minimise the risk of lost or incomplete information, and support safer patient care.

Please submit referrals by email to [email protected].

We will continue to accept paper referrals where necessary. However, referrers will be advised to use digital referral methods in future.

Emergency referrals

If you're less than 18 weeks pregnant, call our early pregnancy and gynaecology unit (EPAGU).

If you're more than 18 weeks pregnant, call our maternity assessment unit.

Referring people with mental illness

The perinatal referral page on the SLaM website has information about referring to their perintatal mental health service.

This is a support service for pregnant and postnatal people with severe and complex mental illness.
