Language support

Accessibility and support

We can provide communication and language support to help with your care. The service you have appointments with will usually arrange this, so please contact them first.

Interpreters at appointments

If English is not your first language, we'll arrange for an interpreter at your appointment. This includes British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters.

To book an interpreter, please contact the service your appointment is with as soon as possible.

You can use the contact details on your appointment information or look up your service.

Please tell your service which language you need. They will need as much notice as possible, so please let them know as soon as your appointment is booked.

Other communication support

Our language support service also offers:

  • video interpreting
  • telephone interpreting any time, anywhere in our hospitals and community sites
  • translations of information about your health and care
  • information in Braille, large print and easy read
  • hearing loops
