World Head and Neck Cancer day

Thursday 27 July is World Head and Neck Cancer Day. 

We’ll be marking this occasion by celebrating the work and impact of Guy’s head and neck cancer centre, which launched in July 2021, with thanks to the generosity of Olegario Wilson Philanthropy.  

The Guy's Cancer team provided support for Naema Abubakar, who  was just 23 when she received a shock diagnosis of a rare form of head and neck cancer while studying at London South Bank University.

Thanks to the expertise of the Guy’s Cancer team and the dedicated care that Naema received, she was able to complete her studies and even managed to graduate from university with a first. She is now in remission.  

Naema said:

I can't put into words how much all of the extra support helped me. Nobody made me feel like my condition was incurable and I felt like I was in the safest possible hands.

Visit our stall in the Welcome Village from 10am to 3pm. There will be a mix of displays and freebies, and opportunities for patients, friends, and family to say a little thank you to our dedicated staff and to donate.

With the help of generous donations, the head and neck cancer centre can continue advancing cancer care and bringing inventive ideas to life.
