Involving patients in research studies

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) publishes information about clinical research activity taking place in trusts around the country in conjunction with the Guardian newspaper each year.

This shows the number of clinical research studies taking place and the number of patients who take part.

How are we doing?

Guy’s and St Thomas’ carries out more research studies than any other NHS trust in London, and is in the top three trusts nationally.

In 2018/19 we had over 550 studies running across a range of medical conditions, the highest of any NHS Trust in England. During 2018/19 over 19,500 people took part in research studies at Guy’s and St Thomas’.
