St Thomas' Radiographer appointed vice president

A lead radiographer at Guy’s and St Thomas’ has been elected as vice president of the Society of Radiographers, which represents the profession across the UK.

Sheila Hassan, 56, who has worked at the Trust for 14 years, has been a member of the society’s council since 2010.

At her inauguration as vice president, she said: “It is an absolute honour and privilege to take up such a distinguished role within my profession.

“The society offers very good leadership training and it improves knowledge and skills, opportunities I look forward to sharing with peers.”

The Society of Radiographers is the only body in the UK representing the whole of the radiographic workforce.

Angela Francis, head of radiotherapy at Guy’s and St Thomas’, said: “The whole department is so proud of Sheila for gaining this distinguished position. It is great for not only the radiotherapy department but the entire Trust. “
