How much is too much?
Monday 19 November 2012
It could be a couple of glasses of wine after dinner or drinks with the team after work. Keeping track of how much we drink each week is not always easy.
As part of National Alcohol Awareness Week (19 - 25 November), the LEIPS Community Alcohol Support Service is running a series of events in Brixton, Clapham and Stockwell to help local people find out how to manage and reduce their alcohol intake and stay healthier.
National guidelines on the recommended consumption of alcohol state that women should not regularly exceed 2-3 units, and men 3-4 units, daily. However, around 1 in 4 adults regularly drink above this level, often without realising it.
Maria Loizou, Health Promotion Specialist says: "It's all too easy to get carried away and have one too many to drink, especially in the run up Christmas. But even reducing alcohol intake a little each week can make you feel better and improve your long-term health."
